My childhood dream was to become a math teacher! I loved the challenge of working through problems and pushing my mind to find solutions, and I wanted to share this passion with children.

“With curious minds, we always act a step ahead” has been my guiding principle since I joined . For me, it represents opportunity and development. I have always been a curious person, constantly asking how?, why?, show me!, and that curiosity has truly helped me stay a step ahead and grow into where I am today.

Enthusiasm is a daily constant in my life. Just like a child, I feel genuinely happy every time I manage to solve something, even if it seems small or simple. That sense of achievement never gets old. At work, I keep that curiosity alive by always looking to learn new things and embracing new challenges. But what truly brings me the deepest satisfaction is when I manage to help someone: there is nothing quite like it. Outside of work, I feed my curiosity through reading. Books have always been a wonderful way for me to keep exploring, learning and wondering about the world.

When I was a kid, I wanted to become a Marine Biologist (till I started learning biology in school, then I realized I don't like the research part, I just like nature, animals and adventure).

I strongly believe that only with curiosity life gets more meaning. It provides the spark necessary for progress in any field there is. It is because of people who were curious at some point about how everything works that we get to benefit today from all of the science, art, psychology, spirituality, etc. we have available.

When it comes to keeping my sense of wonder alive, the key for me is assuming you don't know everything there is to know about something, asking questions and keeping an open mind. Life is not black and white. The different nuances of grey that you may or may not have seen before make the difference.

dana popa@2xWhen I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian because I wanted to save every animal I met. I absolutely loved animals and imagined spending my days helping them. Later, when I discovered that I was allergic to cats, I became fascinated by allergies and how the human body works. That curiosity led me to a new dream: becoming a doctor and helping people manage and overcome allergic conditions. Looking back, both dreams had something in common: the desire to help others and make a positive difference in their lives.

For me, “With curious minds, we always act a step ahead” means never being satisfied with simply accepting things as they are. I have always been a very curious person, constantly asking questions and wanting to understand how things work. Curiosity helps us anticipate challenges, discover opportunities, and find better solutions before others do. Being a step ahead is not just about knowledge; it’s about having the mindset to keep learning, exploring, and looking beyond the obvious.

I keep my childlike sense of wonder alive by staying open to new ideas and continuously learning. I’m naturally curious, so I tend to ask a lot of questions and explore topics that interest me, even if they are outside my area of expertise. I get excited about discovering something new, solving problems, and taking on challenges. Since I’m also energetic and involved person, this means that sometimes I take on more projects than I probably should. But that enthusiasm is what keeps me motivated, helps me grow, and allows me to approach both work and life with the same sense of wonder I had as a child.

When I was a kid, I wanted very much to be a crane. Yes, that powerful machine used for lifting and moving heavy loads. Perhaps that translates now into my yearn to be of help to people and make their lives easier in any shape or form.

As a child, I used to ask very often, on any topic and to my parents' despair, “Why?”. I did not stop asking until their answer was satisfactory. Also, I had a hard time waiting for things to happen. I had to do them myself. As soon as possible. I liked to be prepared for when the time came. Both pretty much sum up the mindset: „With curious minds, we always act a step ahead”. Fast forward 30 years later, I find myself thriving in a Business Continuity position where questions like…

  1. What could go wrong? (risk awareness)

  2. What comes next? (strategic foresight)

  3. How can we improve before it becomes necessary (continuous improvement)

Are daily occurrences in all aspects of my work.

Don’t ever lose your inner child!” is one of the most common advice self-help books offer. Keeping your “inner child” alive doesn’t mean being immature, it means preserving the parts of you that are curious, playful, authentic, and open. And these are the cornerstones of any successful person, in my opinion. So, my recipe is quite simple:

  1. Sprinkle some joy in people’s hearts with every chance you get (others may have a harder story behind their eyes, even a smile can lighten their day).

  2. Something new? Give it a try, especially if you haven’t experienced it yet. Have fun with it.

  3. Revisit hobbies you had, but dropped for feeling “unproductive

  4. Drop the mask, speak genuinely (with emotional intelligence)

My interests are so diverse you’d think I picked them from a bag. That’s why, as time passed, I wanted to become…

  • a fashion designer, since I love colors and textures
  • a dancer because I love music and I can't sit still. My family says the first time I tried to walk I got up because of the song playing on the radio
  • a psychologist because it meant I could help people
  • a writer, because stories have an undeniable power to create change

I’ve been in employer branding for the past three years, and I get to mix a bit of each: a love for all things pretty, a desire to understand people and connect with them, a knack for the written word. And the dancing? That comes in at our parties, where I’m on the unofficial good vibes crew.
At the heart of discovery and innovation and kinship lies a longing to see, to hear, to grasp, to understand. It’s inherently human. That’s why “With curious minds, we always act a step ahead” is the value I resonate with the most. Curiosity is the ember we must protect and nurture because it’s a driving force of life.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt a deep love for animals. Whenever I feel my spark dimming, I turn to them for inspiration. I remember that I’m curious like a cat, I scream excitedly, much like a crow when I see my friends, I’m drawn to shiny things like a magpie, I jump and explore like a golden retriever. Sometimes, I even channel my inner donkey and yell. Unconventional, but trust me, it helps.

During my childhood I can say that I was always curious about how things worked. I was fascinated by everything that was related to engineering, especially with electronics and mechanical systems. Looking back, I can say that my dreams were always about engineering 😊

“With curious minds, we always act a step ahead” for me is more than just pure curiosity, it is about trying to be a better version of me every day, looking ahead, and trying to solve problems before they happen. This is very important because probably it’s the best way to progress.

I think curiosity stays alive when we keep learning something new every day. The world, and especially technology, is changing so fast, and I believe it is important to keep growing with it. Even when things become complicated and it feels like there is no easy way forward, I want to stay positive, look at the other half of the glass, and find something to learn from every failure.
